"True Dual" Exhaust kit - takes your current 2-into-one exhaust and upgrades it to the 1987-and-up "True Dual" exhaust
The Problem: Although the 1985-86 Porsche® 928 starts out with dual exhaust at the catalytic converters, it joins into a single, restrictive intermediate muffler about half-way back. Right after that muffler, the two pipes are flattened by about a third to allow them to squeeze by the transaxle brace. Then the whole thing exits behind the LR tire after passing through yet another single muffler.
The Porsche® Solution: By 1987, Porsche® had corrected these problems by separating the single intermediate muffler into two dual mufflers, and exiting the exhaust system out beneath the rear bumper near the license plate. BUT NOW - you can upgrade to this improved system too, and without changing the rear bodywork. Our dual exhaust system exits behind the tire just like it does now!

Some Modifications Required: To install this kit, you will have to add two muffler hanger straps that you do not have currently on your '85-'86 928. They are provided. This requires that you drill two small holes in the transaxle cross-brace - in the same spot that Porsche® does for the 1987-95 exhaust. Our instructions will show you where. General mechanical skills required.
