Silicone-Coated Copper Head Gaskets for the Porsche® 928
Application: All Porsche 928 1978 thru 1995
The Problem: Porsche 928 enthusiasts find an alarming lack of options where head gaskets are concerned for their favorite car. You only have (until now) two choices: go with the stock head-gaskets (designed from 30-yr-old materials) or a Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket. The stock head gaskets are good, but if you want to dial the boost up, a MLS gasket was your only other choice. The problem is that the use of a MLS gasket requires dead-flat engine decks and heads. Few blocks and heads are in that good of shape!
The Solution: Enter the Silicone-Coated Copper head gasket. Copper Head Gaskets are well-known for their sealing capability on slightly less-than-perfect decks, and racers like both the high thermal conduction of the copper and the fact that the expansion/contraction properties of the copper can mimic that of the aluminum block and heads where steel gaskets will not.
Copper Head Gaskets are especially useful when using non-stretch type engine head studs, like after-market hi-performance hardware.
O-rings Required: Copper head gaskets require the use of cylinder o-rings to replace the absence of a fire ring on the gasket. The o-rings can be machined into either your heads or your block. O-rings are commonly 0.040" stainless steel wire, and that works well with these.
Sizes Available: These gaskets are available in the following bore sizes: 95mm, 97mm, 100mm, 104mm, 4.0" and 4.125" and 4.150". Thicknesses from 0.40" to 0.65" are available, select yours below.
